Farewell to Brenda

Aunt Brenda passed away early Thursday morning. I am very glad I went to see her one last time on Saturday. They moved her from the hospital to her house (which is where she wanted to be). We will miss her terribly.

To add insult to the already injured, my Great Aunt Mary Katherine also died this week. This is Brenda's mom's sister (my grandma's sister). So this weekend I will be going to the first funeral and then Brenda's wake, visitation and memorial.

Brenda had received a gift from a fellow cancer patient in July. It was a knitted purse. She was excited because the hat I made her for Christmas matched the purse. She wants me to have the purse (I can't even begin to tell you how much this made me cry and this was before she died). Brenda was the perfect recipient to knit for. She loved everything I made even if it was wonky or didn't fit right. Here's to Brenda, we will miss you.

I'm so sorry to hear of your sad loss. My thoughts are with you. That is lovely that they want you to have the purse - a gentle reminder of a lovely woman.
